Early American Powderhorn SOLD

This is an absolutely beautiful example of a very Early Colonial American style horn. Completely hand made by one of todays premier horn makers, this striking piece carries all of the desirable traits and characteristics everyone is looking for. The spout is fluted and shaped in a hexagonal form with a hand carved stapper attached with a woven linen cord. The entire horn is hand scraped and exhibits very graceful archetecture all the way to the base plug. The engraved decoration is completely period correct and executed to perfection, and is covered with a warm, soft patina that is particularly pleasing. The horn also carries another unique feature in that a section under the baseplug has been leather lined and is used to carry extra round ball while on a hunt. This is truly one of the finest early period horns that we ever had.
