Rev War Era Gentlemans Dirk SOLD

This is an amazing piece!!  These Dirks were produced immediately after the Revolution to commemorate Americas new independence from Great Britain.  They were sold mostly through a merchant in Philadelphia and the quality is absolutely superb.  This piece survives in Original untouched condition and retains its original hand-made brass sheath.  The Ivory handle is skillfully carved with a shell on each side at the pommel while the hilt is finished with a brass decorated ferrell.  The blade is wonderfully decorated on all four surfaces in a patriotic theme.  This is a very rare and important piece of Colonial American history that has survived the ages in superb condition and would be an asset in any collection.  On one side of the blade it reads "Liberty" and on the other "Draw me not without reason Sheath me not without honour".  If you have an interest please feel free to call the shop to discuss this wonderful piece.  717-757-5841
