This is a very nice professionally made Original Powder Horn. It has that nice greenish color with a smooth sheen that is highly sought after as well as being worked down to where it is transparent. The carving at the spout is superbly done and has nice bold character. Along its life it has had some brass tacks added to the butt for added decoration. The horn is still fairly tight and only has a very small air leak on the top around one the original wooden pins. The air leak isn t big enough that it would leak powder however so you could easily add this beautiful horn to a bag and carry it. The overall length on the outside curve is about 9 3/4" and it is 2 3/4" across at the butt plug.
