54 cal George Schreyer Rifle

Here is a great early rifle that you won’t find anywhere else. This 54 caliber George Schreyer rifle was custom built right here at Cabin Creek by Chris Warner. Chris was a custom instrument maker and rifle builder who was an integral part of our shop through the 90’s and early 2000’s. Chris hand stocked this rifle from a blank of beautiful Northern Curly Maple, sculpting the entire stock with hand tools in the architectural style of George Shreyer. It features that sleek elongated sliding wood patchbox and architectural features that we all know from gun No. 94 in Rifles Of Colonial America.

Chris hand made the tapered brass ram rod pipes that hold a traditional style tapered ram rod with a threaded iron tip. Chris also hand forged the custom faceted trigger and trigger plate, we cast the buttplate, and designed a custom York Co. sideplate that was also cast in soft yellow brass.  For the bones of the rifle it features a 41″ Getz barrel with 7 groove square bottom rifling and a coned muzzle, as well as a Large Siler Flintlock that has been hand tuned by Brad. This rifle has been extremely well cared for and has seen little usage since it was built, and has remained in the same collection since it was new.
