Here is a rare opportunity to own a copy of a Henry Pickle rifle that was built by Wayne Watson. Henry Pickle was a York County, Pennsylvania gunsmith who built finely decorated and ornate rifles, and in todays contemporary world rarely do we see copies of his work. The original example is pictured in James Whiskers book “Gunsmiths of York County” on page 96.
For this build Wayne stocked the rifle in a nice piece of curly maple that features relief and incised carving that is akin to the original, as well as the hand engraved 4 piece brass patchbox and engraved sideplate that’s exhibited on the original. The rifle features a 42″ long Getz barrel with 7 groove rifling and a .54 caliber bore with 1-66″ twist. The barrel has been paired up with a small Siler Flintlock and a scrolled single trigger.
If you’re looking to own a copy of a Henry Pickle rifle or a contemporary piece from Wayne Watson, this one is in stock and ready to rock.
