This is a very nice, custom built Jacob Dickert rifle in 54 caliber. Extremely fine craftsmanship, with all work on the rifle done in a traditional 18th Century manner. It has been hand assembled from a blank of Maple, and carefully crafted in the proper form of an original Jacob Dickert rifle. We have had this rifle apart to inspect it for a makers mark or a signature but could not locate one. Upon our inspection however, we have found that nearly every part on this rifle was made by hand in a traditional manner, just as you would see from our shop, or from the gun shop at Colonial Williamsburg. The inletting, shaping, architecture, fit, finish and aging are as good as you could hope for on any high end rifle, and the carving and engraving were completed in a very complimentary manner. This rifle is a great example of clean period workmanship, and is a great example of Dickerts early work.
The rifle remains in “like new” condition and does not appear to have hardly ever been shot at all. It measure just over 60″ in length, with a 44″ swamped barrel and a 13 3/4″ length of pull. It holds and balances well, with a weight of 9 lbs. 1.5 oz.
