20 ga Cherry Stocked Fowler

This beautiful 20 ga Cherry Fowler was built right here in our shop by Chris Warner. Chris was an integral part of our shop through the 90’s and early 2000’s, working as a custom instrument maker and rifle builder. Chris hand stocked this York County style fowling piece from a beautiful plank of Curly Cherry, shaping and sculpting the entire stock with hand tools in an 18th Century manner. As an American Fowler, it features a unique and appealing blend of Germanic and English gunmaking traditions, and this cultural crossover produces a hybrid that is exceptionally slender and graceful, yet retains the robust, heavy-duty construction of its Germanic heritage.

It features cast brass mounts throughout, as well as a hand crafted set of tapered brass ram rod pipes, which retain a traditional style tapered ram rod with a hand made reversible tow worm. It also has a rear sight which is a nice addition to a fowling piece to extend its capabilities. The curly cherry stock was traditionally finished in an 18th Century manner using an aqua fortis stain and a hand rubbed oil finish. It has been extremely well cared for over the years and it now exhibits a soft, warm aged appearance that cherry and brass can only acquire through time.

For the bones of this build it features a 44″ Octagon to Round barrel from Colerain Barrel Company, a Germanic Flintlock from R.E. Davis Company, and a Bivins single trigger. All high end and reliable hardware to provide a lifetime of shooting.
