“John Schreit” Rifle SOLD

This rifle is a copy of Gun No. 18 in Shumway’s book “Rifles of Colonial America”.  The original is signed “JOH SCHREIT 1761″, and remains the earliest signed and dated American longrifle that we know of.  This rifle, built by Chris Warner and Wayne Lewis, is a fairly honest copy of the original.  It is stocked in curly maple and carries the same architecture, brass furniture, carving and engravings as the original.  It features a 42” Colerain barrel with 6 groove round bottom rifling.  The lock is an Early Germanic Flintlock from Jim Chambers.
