Really nice example of an early, possibly 16th-17th Century wrought iron candle stand. Often referred to as a “Peerman” or “Torch Holder” in early text, they can hold candles or fatwood splints. The sockets are large enough to hold any candle or fatwood up to 1.5″ in diameter and are held in by the long decorative spring arms. Large lipped tray base with 4 scrolled feet to catch any wax or ash. This is an exceptional example of an early lighting device that remains in all original condition. It measures just over 17″ tall and 8″ wide at the candle sockets, making it a perfect size as a center piece.
