Check this out, here is one of our Colonial American Fowlers that was built by Brad. It is based largely on a surviving example believed to have been made by John Newcomer in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County and dates from the 1760-1780 time period.
Brad stocked this fowler in an exceptional piece of rock hard curly maple that was traditionally finished in an 18th Century manner using an aqua fortis stain and a hand rubbed oil finish. It features hand polished brass mounts and a black oxide finish on all of the iron parts, which provides a great contrast to the curly maple stock. This fowling piece also has the addition of a rear sight which is a huge benefit for a multi purpose sporting gun. For the bones of the build it sports a 42″ octagon to round, 28 ga barrel from Colerain Barrel Company that has been paired to a hand tuned Large Siler Flintlock and a Davis single trigger. The lock and trigger have been tuned together to provide a crisp, clean trigger pull.
